Bio-reagent manufacturers have, for a long time, held the tradition of creating beautiful diagrams of cell signalling pathways and biological systems. These are a few sites that I tend to go to when learning about new signalling systems:
Cell Signaling
R&D Systems
EMD Biosciences
E Biosciences
Sigma Aldrich

Hubmed is an alternative interface to the National Library of Medicines PubMed database. It’s still rather experimental - but looks like it’s trying to address a lot of the features that are missing in the regular PubMed search interface. It will be interesting to see how it develops.
Some of the features include:
Free button - lets you see papers that are available freely online
Tagging - possible by users to help identify papers
RSS feeds - to keep you updated on new papers of interest
PDF search - Citation searcher allows you to cut and paste in text from a PDF and retrieve the Hubmed links to the papers
For a review of the service check out this paper

PrimateLit is a database of scientific literature pertaining to non human primates. It is maintained by the University of Wisconsin - Madison Libraries. Its a little cluncky to search and retrieve data and abstracts aren’t available - but it does turn up stuff that you might not find in Medline and traditional literature searches.
